Porcelain Tile

Porcelain tile is made by mixing clay with feldspar, a glass component.  It is then pressed and fired, the addition of feldspar allows the tile to be fired at a much higher temperature than a ceramic tile.  This process makes porcelain tile much more dense, and less porous.  In fact porcelain tile has an absorption rate of less than o.5%.  Porcelain tiles can be glazed or unglazed, and come in a variety of colors, and surface textures.  In some cases porcelain tiles may be slightly more than ceramic tiles, but the increase in strength and durability make them well worth it!  Porcelain Tile typically has a pattern printed on the surface.  These patterns can look like natural stone, like slate, travertine or marble, or they can have a variety of geometric patterns and shapes.  Here are just a few of the Porcelain Tile options available in stock at a Contempo near you:
